#Incarceration is a systemic and structural barrier to economic equity. Flintridge Center, a partner of Irvine’s #BetterCareers initiative, says it doesn’t have to be.
Through Flintridge’s programs, returning citizens receive wrap-around services over a longer time to provide them the opportunity to learn new skills, gain stability, and be connected to mental health, substance use, and other supportive services. To date, nearly 2,000 individuals have graduated from Flintridge's #apprenticeship program.
In The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Flintridge shares more about their work, the importance of centering system-impacted individuals, and how philanthropy can help eliminate the barriers and stigma returning citizens face: https://irvine.ly/3Kc7ZqH
This piece is the seventh in a series of feature pieces from some of the organizations that Irvine supports to highlight the challenges and opportunities related to economic opportunity. We are proud to support this series in The Chronicle of Philanthropy.
