Today, the description of a #NewSpecies of #birch from #China was published: #Betula mcallisteri (https://doi.org/10.3389/fpls.2023.1113274)
The species looks very similar to the widespread species Betula luminifera. In fact, using traditional characters to identify species, such as flowers, fruits or leaf, one cannot distinguish the two species. However, the #bark of the new species is peeling whereas B. luminifera has a smooth bark. Also, the bark does not smell when peeled (vs. fragrant).

In #Spain it is not very common to have #fires of >1000 ha at 1500-1900 m altitude. An example from last summer is the fire at Boca-de-Huergano (#Riaño, #León). Much of the fire affected a young plantation of #Pinus #uncinata (not native to the area; not sure why it was planted!) and #Betula. Betula individuals are now #resprouting.

Two options:
1. Write out the explicit instruction on how to overcome the limitation. Expect them to care.
2. Migrate to a different forge, which is able to handle Google's DDoS.
