There is a point when French polishing a finish on #wood that the figure begins to emerge. The wood starts out as grey & almost colorless and as you apply the finish in hundreds of polishing motions, the fibers of the wood absorb the finish and bring the wood to life.

It's addictive because with each motion of your hand that is clasping the small linen ball that you are using to apply the finish, you are seeing the change ever so subtly.

I only French polish items that won't get any heat. The piece I am working on now will become a overhead light for a dining room, with six pendants spaced around the edge.

It's getting there. I need to order the cabling system and then I will be installing it within the next month.
