We use the same RFID standard to time #BHPC races, where we usually get riders of un-faired machines to attach tags to the sides of their cycle helmet. On a couple of occasions we've come across spurious read-only tags in addition to the ones we've attached, that turned out to be built into the helmet...
(Incidentally, in testing our system could read tags at up to 17m from the aerial, though admittedly it's not the sort of thing you can carry around inconspicuously.)
Second day of #BHPC racing went smoothly with slightly less wind and almost no rain. Did well in the 1lap time trial and the 90 minutes race was fine once I got the hang of the first corner. Only saw one rider stopped at Prostate Corner this year...
Time for celebratory fish & chips!
#BHPC Racing at Rhyl went reasonably well - mostly dry and I managed to put in a real effort without wimping out on the bends. Some of the riders with more sail area were having Type 2 Fun with the crosswind, but no crashes apart from streamliners tipping over sideways when setting off and stopping.
Back for more tomorrow, in which I attempt to cat-herd a time trial, then try to gain advantage in the endurance race through superior bladder capacity...
Drove to Anglesey in the pissing rain. Failed to fix MIL's stupid dishwasher (which seemed to be working until it blew a hose and flooded the room while tripping the RCD). Did visit Alpkit and buy some trousers that actually fit, so not a complete washout.
#BHPC racing at Rhyl tomorrow. I expect to be thoroughly fed up with dihydrogen monoxide by the end of it.
Entry for the British Human Power Club races at Rhyl Marsh Tracks on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th of July are now open to #BHPC members (opens to non-members on the 6th).
Registration closes Thursday 13th July.
Today's #BHPC race was underwhelming. I appear to have lost all my confidence with cornering. On the plus side I didn't crash this time, or die of sunstroke.
All ran smoothly from an organisation and timing perspective, at least.
Entry for the British Human Power Club races at York Sport Village on Saturday 10th June, and at Hull Ennerdale Cycle Circuit on Sunday 11th June are now open to #BHPC members.
Registration closes Thursday 8th June.
#BHPC Round 2: Bath.
Will the weather betray us?
Will we have enough extension leads?
Will I ever get the hang of the bottom corner?
Working on the #BHPC finish line video capture software using last weekend's racing as test data, I was unreasonably amused by the way that you can tell the exact moment that Slash rounds the final corner by Chairman Al's body language as he realises he should drop the bell and raise the chequered flag.
(Video is silent)
Off to #Hillingdon for the first #BHPC race of the season. Registrations for Bath are now open to members.

@Lizzie There's a reason I christened the lower bend with a smattering of tree cover at the #Rhyl #MarshTracks cycle circuit "prostate corner" during the 2-hour #BHPC race in July.
That's the secret to successful endurance HPV racing, btw: Having a bike that doesn't tip over on the start line or otherwise fall to bits, and bladder control.
