One of the details I like of the #BibLaTeX design is it offers a lot of low-level flexibility and power, but also simpler interfaces for configuring the common behaviors.

For example, you get very low-level on sorting, or just select a simple parameter.

I'm playing currently with a similar idea, where one can configure sorting and grouping together like so:

Have had a very interesting back-and-forth on sorting and extended date formatting with Philip Kime from the #biblatex project over the past few days.

I've always admired the attention to detail in that project from afar, but it's interesting to compare some of the similarities and differences in design details.

To it's credit, BibLaTeX tends to provide both a lot of low-level power and flexibility, AND easy-to-use interfaces on top.

[Anniversary] All the Libraries and all the Computer Science organisations celebrate on Friday 2023-05-26 the 3rd anniversary of software as official part of knowledge thanks to official dedicated entry in #bibliography!
The software, its version or its source code can be quoted with specific bibliographical style.
Those improvements in the #BibLaTeX #format were done by Software Heritage.

Phew, spent too much time trying to show the journal in the references list with #biblatex #biber, just to find out that the order or \addbibresource matters and you need to include the macros file *first* 🙄

@TeXhackse Good news. Successfully installed. Installation of #TeXLive 2023 pretest needed about 30 minutes on my old linux notebook. First test build of #scrlayer-fancyhdr was also successful. Test build of KOMA-Script is running.

Unfortunately there is still no biber.aarch64-linux, so I still cannot switch from #babelbib to #biblatex (using biber), because the build machine for my TeX Live repository is a Raspberry Pi4. 😢

One can document the access date of a referenced URL with the `urldate` key in #BibLaTeX or the `accessed` field in #CSLJSON. E.g. in BibLaTeX:

Not all citation styles make use of this info, but "author-date" styles do. The #Zotero #CSL style database can be filtered for those; pick the one you want here: https://www.zotero.org/styles?format=author-date

Do you maintain one big #BibLaTeX database? Get the subset of just those entries required for an article with

ד. אני לא באמת משתמש בזוטרו כדי לנהל את הציטוטים. את אלה אני בסוף מעתיק מ- #MathReviews לתוך קובץ ביב אד־הוקי. אני משתמש בזוטרו כדי לשמור את הרפרנסים עצמם (קבצי הפדף וכו') ולהיות מסוגל לחפש בהם, לתייג אותם, לגבות אותם ולגשת אליהם מכל מכשיר.

אני ב־ #BibLaTeX + #NeoVim; יש לי קובץ ביבליוגרפיה אחד מתחילת התואר הראשון, שהולך ותופח עם הזמן. כתבתי על זה פעם בקבוצת לאטך בפייסבוק. מנגנון החיפוש של פייסבוק גרוע, אז לא הצלחתי למצוא את ההודעה, ולכן אני מצרפת קישור לתגובה הזאת במקום:

Hmm, #CentOSStream-kokeiluni saattaa katketa kuin kanan lento: #TeXLive on sen vakioasennuslähteissä niin torso, ettei edes #BibLaTeX'ia tai #texdoc'ia ole! Koska #TeX ja nimenomaan #LuaLaTeX on keskeisiä työkalujani, ei hyvältä näytä. Pienen yksittäisen ohjelman asennus käsin tai lisälähteestä on yksi juttu, mutta TeX on iso hirviö.

[21/24] Il y eut un « avant BibTeX » ! Car le célèbre et puissant #format #BibTeX pour les références de #bibliographie ne date que de 1985---et de 2006 pour #BibLaTeX, encore plus complet.
Donc depuis au moins 1978, il y a le #format refer !
#Refer utilise le #format % + 1 lettre : %A pour Auteur, %T pour Titre ou %L pour Label, soit 26 champs, principalement pour livres et articles.
Refer fonctionne notamment avec le #format de documents troff, nroff et groff.
