4: Most recent is this piece based on John Wither’s 1635 emblem book. Effectively the first graphic novels…there is text, but the emblems also told the story, useful as few could read. I did not want it as an emblem so my friend Mary redrew it [IG @art_map]. Tattoo by the mad genius that is Loran Iris [IG @loraniristattoo]. Text reads: “Death is unable to divide theirs hearts, whose hands true love hath type.” #biblioink #booktattoo #tattoo #johnwither #bookart #emblembook

3: Archangel Raphael from Leonard Baskin’s, Tobias and the Angel (1958). I have the print at it has always been one of my favorites of Baskin’s. Loran’s ability to reproduced his etched lines was…well…it’s perfect [IG @loraniristattoo]. Baskin’s work lends itself to tattoos… #biblioink #booktattoo #tattoo #leonardbaskin #bookart #tobiasandtheangel

2: First of the #bookink. I wanted one of Gabby’s death gods from her Book Of Penumbra [IG @boundbycooksey]. I asked her which she would choose, and she said, without hesitation, was good, as he was my favorite, too. The work was done by the wildly talented hand of Loran Iris [IG @loraniristattoo]. Included an image of the original. Loran has done all subsequent work (and future). #biblioink #booktattoo #tattoo #gabbycooksey #bookart #deathgod

By way of introduction & amusement, a four part post on tattoos:
1: The first is a representation of quantum entanglement, where two particles reflect state changes in either immediately, regardless of distance. Einstein and Bohr argued about it for years, as Einstein hated it because it violates relativity (‘spooky action at a distance’). Bohr was correct and the implications are huge. Done by Justin at Siren Song in Thomaston ME. #biblioink #booktattoo #sciencetattoo #quantumentanglement
