I'm afraid it's inevitable. The confrontation between #BigGas and #BigWind is coming and there is nothing we can do about it.

As well as #NollaignamBan the 6th January is notable in Ireland as the anniversary of the Night of the #BigWind, Oíche na Gaoithe Móire, in 1839, which caused mass destruction of life and property. When pensions were introduced, memories of the night were used to help determine who qualified.

It is also the date on which the events of #JamesJoyce ’s short story "The Dead" from "Dubliners" (1914) takes place.
