#bikechi twitter melting down might finally be what gets me off there for good. The bike advocacy was why I kept it, but if we're just gonna be eternally online and fighting with each other, what's the point.
I am considering a camera to mount on my bike for recording my commutes.
I've done some preliminary research and know I want the following:
- waterproof/resistant (i ride in the rain)
- handlebar mount with good enough stabilization that the video is still good
- good enough quality to see license plates
I have heard terrible things about the cycliq customer service/quality.
Beyond that, I'm stumped! #Cycling #bikechi #biketooter
Wow, this is horrible, but as #StreetsblogChi mentions, usually if a cyclist is said to have hit a vehicle, clarification is needed. So sad about this loss. #bikeCHI

Re-iterating how much fun it is to meet bike people! Thanks @chicagobikesox @bikegridnow and crew for a fun #bikesox #bikechi tailgate! Not sure if we'll make either of the remaining tuesday games but def going to the end of season party 10/1!
Major props to the cyclist riding on Milwaukee north of Pulaski rocking the copper fluted fenders. #bikeCHI

I need to leave twitter but how can I when the only thing that gives me life is all of #bikechi coming together to yell at an alderman saying a dumb thing and supporting a worse-than-nothing "bike lane" as part of a massive road re-do, through a neighborhood/bikeway so full of cyclists that it was literally called the "hipster highway" in the early aughts?????
Did Google have spies on #chicritmass or did they pay cyclists to update their map data? #bikeCHI
#bikechi commute was completely insane this morning. Not sure if it's the rain or that I was a little later than usual or what, but the things I witnessed...
- Nearly got creamed by a driver who wanted to use the bike lane to get around traffic on Elston and made a move for it right as I was next to her.
- Dude on a Lyft scooter who 1. rode in the left side of the bike lane despite being slower than just about everyone and 2. obeyed the wrong walk signal at mke/halsted/grand & nearly got hit
I wish I had captured the two cars before I started this video on my run yesterday - they completely blew through the stop sign at full speed. These drivers were “safe” in comparison. There’s a park with a playground on this block.
Yesterday I was driving Roxy to the vet, and as I waited at a red light to turn right, I saw a driver turning left on the green looking down at TWO different phones in his hand and looking at them and at one point released the one hand that was holding the wheel to poke at one of them while in the midst of making the turn.
In case you're wondering why we in #bikechi are convinced we're gonna get killed by a driver
