If only there was a prize for the longest bike at the hardware store. At just a couple of cm short of 5 m I might have been in with a good chance today.

A DIY shop 4 km away had an offer on these 3x11 aluminium ladders. I extended a trailer with a piece of the old wooden ladder which I'd chopped up because I no longer trusted it. Much better than paying a €40 delivery fee.

Every bike is a cargo bike if we use a bit of imagination.

A small loop around each axle receiver and threaded through the front carrying handle, leaving only a little slack. It's great for carrying it up the stairs. Detach the tow bar for lower clearance.

This afternoon's delivery run. I had a couple of odd shaped parcels so I took a trailer. About bike is a cargo bike becomes a cargo bike of you pull a trailer. The junction ahead gives cyclists priority, as you'd expect at a side road in the Netherlands. In the second photo you can see drivers heading in both directions yielding to cyclists. Note that the cycle path curves away from the road to allow a whole car length between the main road and the cycle path as this enables safe crossing at 90 degrees with good sightlines, and it gives the drivers somewhere to wait.

When I built the workshop trailer for Stitched Up I included a pull out bike rack.
It meant that if they cycled to a pedestrian only area they could hang the pike on the back and pull the trailer by hand.
The two arms telescoped out of the tubes I had installed as lifting handles and tie down points for carrying fabric and the removable table on the top.

The trailer had a side and rear door, and the front wheel had a dynamo to power the rear lights when in motion.
The drawbar also activated the rear drum brakes on the overrun to save pushing the towing bike.

It could also be set up for an electric assist activated by pulling on the drawbar but that was outside the scope and budget.

Finally figured out a way to safely attach it to my bike without stripping the wheel axles: there is a big screw securing the kickstand that is the perfect size.

We have miles and miles of lovely #biketrails near me, in suburban Chicago. But no one else in my family likes to ride as much as I do, so I often either take the dog with, or don't go at all-- most of the time it's the latter. The dog can't always keep up (or keep going) for the long rides I would like to go on.

The last dog we had was smaller, so she fit in a #biketrailer, if she got too tired or hot.

So yes... Being a female means I don't ride alone.😥
