Why @bikeportland @bikeloudpdx, _why_ does Oaks Park not charge enough for #parking cars, or have #bikeValet so more people ride there? Beautiful day, but endless car traffic coming from there clogging up Sellwood and maybe 8 bikes at their racks (which are not great ones, and yet I saw at least a couple trailers as we passed by.)

@daihard maybe some #bikeParking / #BikeTheft policy wonks or #BikeTooter can cite studies, but just offhand: #BikeValet, staples/corrals with better lighting/visibility (& follow-up review theft report locations for changes), make it easy to get a #BikeHangar in a curb space (or lockers, pods, etc), register at point of sale / make sure people know their serial number, maintain decent infrastructure so more people bike, build housing (a lot of it), and give people bikes, locks, and money #UBI.

If you're headed to California Roots Festival / #CaliRoots May 25-28, 2023 in Monterey:

Please bike—or #skate, #skateboard, #scoot, or #walk there—or if you can't use people-powered / #ActiveTransportation to get all the way there, use a "bike-and-ride" option like Monterey-Salinas Transit bus.

Again in 2023, bike/skateboard valet parking will be provided at Gate 8 by faithful valet providers Mike & Natasha Baroni & Friends (aka Nitro Cycle 831).

The valet service was overflowing in 2022, so get there early (AND urge Cali Roots to provide a larger valet station for 2023 than 2022's).

Yes, I have become that person who emails every festival or event happening near them and asks them if they have secure bike parking. I suggest you do the same.

(And no, I decided I won't be going. This case is particularly bad because they promoted attending by bike and showed a bike parking area on their festival map)
