Hub Cycling is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The progress they've championed is really amazing.

Just compare the 1999 Vancouver cycling map with today. It now covers most of the city and also includes separated AAA routes.

A huge thanks to HUB's staff, volunteers, and 100,000 members for 25 years of progress.

And not just for infrastructure improvements, but also for education and advocacy.

Enjoyed the fragrance of the forest after the rain during a couple of bike rides through #StanleyPark this week. Also noticed that even on these busy days that cyclists out number motorists by a large margin, so taking out the imperfectly fine bike lane on the Drive makes total ideological sense.

Highway 1 might get a section of MUP parallel to it after the improvements (read widening) are done in phase 3.

Today the seawall was non-stop with cyclists and #StanleyPark Drive was also busy with cyclists. The only place where there were a lot of motorists was going up the Prospect Point hill where they were confusing motion for progress - once again proving that taking out the imperfectly fine bike route on SP Drive was so necessary.

I can understand @ParkBoard why you'd want to block overnight access to the south parking lot in #JohnHendry Park, but this is also the BC Parkway cycling route.Are there any motor vehicle routes in the @CityofVancouver that are closed overnight? #BikeYVR

@rob_telraam There just isn't a demand for such data, unfortunately. #Vancouver cannot address issues on routes with already known usage data, at least not with current council.

Pedal Poll is just once-a-year counting event which doesn't really need automation.

Cool technology though! I hope that cities that actually want to use research results can benefit from it.

Your periodic reminder: Cars cause congestion. More routes for cars creates more congestion.

Some UBC researchers are conducting a cool study on passing distances and dangerous car behaviour.

They want to put some fancy gear on your bike to record those scary moments when a car zooms by too close and almost knocks you off your bike.
