Im thinking of going on a trip by bike for several days with my 14-year old son. Im planning equipment and bikes now. We have nice experience in trekking gear but not biking. What are your thoughts? What to think of in regards to bikes, equipment, storage etc?

No idea if this is a one-off or if there's a quality problem at #Specialized , but if you're planning on getting new gloves, maybe pick a different brand or check the ones you're getting really really well. (I don't usually buy that brand, but that was all the store had in stock in my size, which is frequently hard to find coz I have small hands)
