Saw a fish at today's #BillionOysterProject open house that I'd never seen before. #iNaturalist identified it as a cunner. I've heard of those being seen in the estuary but I'd never seen one.

On Saturday, a day before the big storms after the #BillionOysterProject #SummerOnTheHudson #OpenHouse on the #Baylander. I was in at 4:21. More ebb current than I expected.

Friend sent this great article about picking up plastic trash on #FishersIsland https://us2.campaign-archive.com/?e=ed8c945602&u=7c733794100bcc7e083a163f0&id=72600743be . Interesting that Fishers Island is home to Fishers Island Oyster Farm (https://www.fishersislandoysters.com/) where the family of the main guy at #BillionOysterProject lives.and works.

@queenslight Yeah. The family farm of the Malinowskies. A son, Peter Malinowski is the head of the #BillionOysterProject . I wanted to check it out. Getting there from #NYC would logically take one through #LongIsland but the only ferry to get there starts in #NewLondon #CT.

On Hudson River from 135 to 65 saw oysters (and ribbed mussels) everywhere during super low tide. And in many places where I've never seen either and they were all like 3 years old. Many photos. Totally blown away. #Oysters #HudsonRiver #RibbedMussels #Nyc #BillionOysterProject

@gomez The #BillionOysterProject has access to #divers who are used to 2 foot visibilities and #WorkBoats. The BOP did an amazing job there with over 700 reef balls, over 400 oyster shell filled #gabions. Some were raised. Totally successful. The #oyster colony there is larger than it ever was.

@gomez Whenever I see a photo of the #MarioCuomoBridge aka (#TappanZeeBridge) (Wonder if they changed the initials on the signs from TZB to MCB) I think of all the great work done there by the #BillionOysterProject (#BOP). They are uniquely positioned to deal with what was needed. There were #oysters around the old #TappanZeeBridge which needed to be preserved.
