While it's simply not as good as Ikiru, and feels very unnecessary, Living is lifted enormously by the sublime central turn from Bill Nighy. And it's also worth mentioning the beautiful score throughout. Looking forward to doing the full review for my "Prime Time" slot on the blog next week.

@tismark I was not gonna cry. I was NOT. It's hay-fever. It's smoke. Or pollen. Or i was just caught out in an unforecast tropical downpour that was very localised. Very.

T/y. 🤗

I'd entirely forgotten that lovely ep. As usual, was superb. was a great Doctor. And, tbh, i've loved watching in anything, ever since i first saw him in , long ago in a previous universe for me.

Not one to recommend movies often, but just finished a moving little film on Netflix tonight. LIVING is a profound meditation on life's true purpose. Beautifully shot and staged, it delivers a crucial message about one's genuine priorities and outlook. Bill Nighy's remarkable talent shines in this impactful movie that will resonate with those who have "ears to hear". Highly recommended!

LIVING. It's never too late to start.

Continuing my watching, tonight I watched Ordeal by Innocence with , also on

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It was a lot.

I thought I'd re-read all the books in 2016, but I'd missed that one, and Cat Among the Pigeons.

I need to go through digital and physical books and see what else I'm missing - I'm a bit of a completionist.

is absolutely marvellous as a city worker who discovers he is terminally ill in this remake of Akira Kurosawa's Ikiru (re-adapted by Remains of the Day's Kazuo Ishiguro), that is a gentle and warm but also deeply poignant, subtly-played about finding joy and trying to leave some lasting impact. Rather lovely in an understated way.

I hadn't seen this episode. First the actor playing Van Gogh (Tony Curran) is a familiar face from several parts in film and TV, and he was handling this beautifully. I was already pretty moved as the point of Richard Curtis's little story came clear.

Then all of a sudden here's Bill Nighy! who proceeds to fulfill the dream of every starving artist everywhere.

So Vince and I end up sobbing in unison ... Thanks for this!
