I've noticed Jerry trying to hunt the bugs that live in his bioactive enclosure to clear up detritus. They are, mostly, too fast for him to catch but the enrichment and exercise he gets from trying is just another benefit of bioactive enclosures.

Just to prove that I’m not all rats, all the time, here is a #bioactive mouse habitat.
The resident — one Mr Marshmallow Dandelion Fluff — is a keen tunneller, and keeps himself very busy ensuring the terrain is to his exacting specifications.
I don’t plant grass because the mice like it, I plant it to improve the soil.
Plants enrage mice; lots of huffing and puffing ensues after unauthorised planting.
