This is the one that Greta Thunberg started in 2018, and has exploded into #FridaysForFuture.

In #Helsinki, we gather at the Market Square at 10 am, and from there march to the Parliament. The demonstration ends at 2 pm.

Logging the Mid North Coast of NSW in the midst of a biodiversity and climate crisis

The Forestry Corporation is planning to log native forests of Bellingen. This 'panic logging' within the proposed Great Koala National Park. The broad-scale clear-felling will endanger the koala and all of bio-diverse more-than-human systems. It will heat up the climate and increase the fire risks.
The many logging trucks and heavy fossil fuel machinery will be a hazard for all of Bellingen and the surrounding areas. Noise, dust and pollution will lessen all of our lives.
There was no consultation process with affected 'stakeholders' or the people of Bellingen. This is undemocratic.

I am currently practising #InsectObservation to take part in the insect counting campaign of the #Nabu Germany, which takes place in August, and today I saw some on this thistle. A mosquito, a ladybird who wanted to hide quickly, and two red and yellow soldier beetles.

@d_mathieson's letters to the Irish Times are always worth a read. In this one he talks about how climate change and biodiversity loss are still treated by media and the larger political parties as "a niche story of interest to a small subset of the population rather than a stark warning about vast problems that we’re creating right now for our children and grandchildren."
