But making these cell mimics is expensive and time-consuming.
Now, Japanese scientists have managed to make these microgel mimics simpler using polyethylene glycol and gelatin that is able to encapsulate DNA.
Other biopolymers may be able to use the same method too.

Nevertheless I thought it was both interesting and encouraging to see an
increasing recognition of the human impact of a highly limiting
epistemology of the biomedical approach to mental suffering. The authors
make the important observation that a reworking of this diagnostic
system to maintain the protections of those so deeply indoctrinated will
be no small feat by any means.

I overheard a student today and had some thoughts. Biomedical engineering is like the red mage of #biomedical. I honestly can't really recommend a student to major in it. You learn a bit of everything, but not quite enough of any one thing, so it sets you up for a career in field service. If you want to build the things, a major in mechanical or computer engineering with a minor in biology is probably the best path. Or following up biomed with a masters in one of those.

Fisk University graduate student Vida Robertson highlighted a publication from the laboratory of Ming Zhou Baylor College of Medicine. The authors investigated the loss of enzymatic activity in Stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 (SCD1) over time & used UV-vis spectroscopy, EPR, & inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry to implicate a loss of iron at the active site as one cause.
