🛣️ Good article about the (first) Freeway Revolt in San Francisco. The author shared a gifted article link on the #birbsite. #CarsSuck

On the #birbsite I limited myself to following only 100 accounts at a time. It would change a tiny bit every few months, but essentially it was static. This was how I kept my feed manageable...but I got addicted to scrolling through ALL of it by the end of the day. It was simultaneously a valuable self-imposed constraint and a harmful type of codependency.
I'm now following 999 accounts here on #Mastodon ...who will be my 1,000th follow? I don't know...but I do know I won't stop there!
Many times people have referred to #birbsite (twitter) as the new public square.
The town I grew up in grabbed at corporate money. They took the local square and roofed it over. They had a mall. The chains moved in and replaced the local retailers. The mall thrived for many years.
35 minutes away, another town did not take the deal. They maintained their local shops and culture.
Today, my town is in ruins. A new mall made the old obsolete. The other town is thriving.
This deserves a boost. #Musk #Birbsite

the meltdown of the blue-check super villain is hilarious, actually. Dr. No thought he was petting a cat and playing 3D chess when he suddenly found himself inside of a pinball machine and a mega-multiball frenzy was unleashed by his sudden manipulations of the blue check system. instead of his victorious cackling, he was faced with millions of speeding metal spheres indenting his skull. such a mastermind!

I've just learned that Xoogler #YonatanZunger, chief architect of
#GooglePlus and subsequently at both #Humu and #Birbsite, is now CTO and corporate vice president of identity and network access at Microsoft, as of this past December.

He's apparently written of this at LinkedIn though ... reading that requires an account and signing in to the site, neither of which I have or wish to do:

Oh, now *this* is new. Switched back to the Birbsite and the post I was looking at disappeared and I'm unable to scroll back earlier in my timeline. More #TwitterBugs every time I look.

If I followed you on the #birbsite and I’m not (yet) following you here, please let me know. The UI doesn’t easily let me see that detail when you boost or reply. It’s not personal 😞
I don't normally like linking to #Birbsite but this thread was rather good - https://twitter.com/MathewsSonya/status/1623764474086756353 - and explains how language comprehension works in practice (and why it's normally easier for written language).
Can it really be true that #Birbsite / #Birdchan only has a total of 2 Principal Engineers left? https://www.platformer.news/p/elon-musk-fires-a-top-twitter-engineer - that would be jaw-dropping if true.
I sort of left off posting here as things sort of normalized over there on the #birbsite.
They've sort of unnormalized.

Pervez Musharef died today, and those of us Twitter veterans were already as familiar with his media presence (including late night shows) as we were of Vincente Fox of Mexico--both prominent leaders of their respective countries and both with compelling personalities. R.I.P.
films that you'd show or recommend to students in a marxist political economy course?
