I call her Rosie, a Roseate Spoonbill. Large birds, Audubon describes these large #Birds as "beautiful from a distance, bizarre when you see them up close." They are the only naturally pink bird, meaning they are born pink. I love them! What do you think?

I've been thinking of #birdbrain as a catchall term for the various forms of warped thinking induced by the #birdsite.

These include obsession with likes, shares, responses, etc.... but also an attraction to conflict, insults, condescension, oversimplification, and oneupmanship... and the compulsion to provoke outrage, despair, scapegoating, pile-ons, etc.

As a recovering #birdbrain sufferer myself, I now steer clear of people who bring this kind of baggage with them from Twitter to Mastodon.

I discussed Mastodon with enthusiasm with a student yesterday. It occurred to me that one might describe what's happening on #Twitter now as a classic #braindrain. The thoughtful, the creative, the tolerant, the intelligentsia are leaving. The provincial, the bigoted, the hidebound-fanatical, the ignoramuses are widening their incursions — with the blessings of the new landlord. He will soon find out he now owns a slum.

Also, 100+ Redwing and Fieldfare across the reserve, 7 Curlew, 4 Snipe, Shelduck, Pochard, 40+ Shoveler, 50+ Teal, 200+ Lapwing, c20 Cormorant, 80+ Greylag Geese through, Buzzard, Kestrel, flocks of Linnet and Chaffinch, Herring and Lesser Black-backed Gulls in various plumage cycles.
