Common pigeon feeding on some black sunflower seeds on my deck railing feeder.

I’ve placed assorted rounded & worn rocks from Lake Superior gathered from Little Girl’s Point, Michigan (a well known favorite spot for various sized multicolored rocks) on my deck railing to allow most all birds to land on them and to grab something with their talon’s rather than trying to grab a flat 2 x 6 railing.

Little Girl’s Point, Michigan is a two hour drive from my home in West Duluth one way, but so very well worth it for the fantastic rocks there.

I’ve been putting rocks on the railing year round since I first started feeding the birds back in 1999 when I first bought this home.

It’s interesting to see the variety of different bird species old-timers & their offspring over the years come back just like their parents, grandparents, and great grandparents etc., feed at my feeders, drink and bathe in my deck’s water features.

I can hear a cooper's hawk (accipeter cooperii) ranging over/around my house today. If I see it later, that will put me at a nice round 30 bird species seen at my house since letting the back woods return wild as habitat. I am hopeful!

Not sure what some good bird tags are, so just guessing below
