A snowy egret (Egretta thula) from my ride today fishing in the Don Edwards Wild Life Refuge. He was about 100 yards away. This was shot at 15fps so the total elapsed time from the first picture till his beak is out of the water with the fish is 3.25 seconds

Its prey (typically another bird, pigeon) is struck and captured in mid-air. The peregrine falcon strikes its prey (@ 200mph+) with a clenched foot, stunning or killing it with the impact, then turns to catch it in mid-air!

A Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) with its kill in the Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge, San Francisco Bay. I watched for quite a while. The two crows kept trying to steal the kill (a duck) and the Eagle kept picking it up and moving. Unfortunately it kept getting further away
