Appeal sent. Expecting:
- no answer
- bad answer (we're permabanned)
- demand to fork over $8 per month.

Interesting how the new BirdPlace Blue muting and blocking are used as proxies to downvote a BirdPlace account, thus "sinking", as opposed to "surfacing" their posts in the timeline, effectively diminishing their reach.

The proprietor of the bird place is basically monetizing brigading.

The biggest incentive to paying $8 or $11 per month there is now to gang up and censor.

@tooot is quickly becoming one of my favorite IOS mastodon client. I just wish it made it easier to read threads by including some UI element indicating who’s replying to whom.

I personally like the way that the #birdplace and Reddit do it.

Bari Weiss' use of Libs of TikTok as an example of the poor, persecuted right, makes it very hard to take her criticism of Twitter at face value. These are torch bearers whose torces others use to set fire to the world. And that doesn't seem to worry them at all.

#birdapp #birdplace .. anyone having issues #following people? It hasn't let me follow anyone for about a week to ten days. I follow significantly more people than I have followers, but I do also slowly pickup followers .. 40 or so in the last 4 weeks.

When it comes to moving on from the #birdplace, I honestly don't miss it at all. I'm thoroughly enjoying having #intelligent and #nuanced -albeit sometimes #amusing - #conversations here. So far #mastodon is 1000 times better than anything I experienced at the other place, where people just argue for the thrill of arguing, which has never made any sense to me.

One thing I love about #Mastodon so far in comparison to the #birdplace and #facebook is the limited / absent presence of corporate entities.

Yet it makes me wonder about their role in lifting and/or sabotaging social media platforms. If they can't monetize it, they won't stick around or promote it.

Either way, I say good riddance to 'em.

@Uncleharvey I'm far from retiring, but agree with this sentiment. The constant partisanship bickering, name calling, and general squabbling is what made the #birdplace so toxic and exhausting. There's a lot less of that here, so far, but as more people join, I worry that the toxicity will follow. Seems like there are better ways to filter it out here, tho.
