Doubly so that it is the Birdverse short story collection from Fairwood, I feel like this book has gone a bit underappreciated with RB's other books being out this year, BUT IT IS SO GOOD and I am so happy.

A perception is that #Mastodon is more fractured ... that communities haven't matured to the extent that enables a less intentional user to sense their 'connectedness.'

Example: Here, my feed is much more filtered here than it was in the #birdverse.

That's either a good thing or leaves one with a sense of isolation.

Not seeing the yuck, affects some folk's confidence - "What am I missing." So they wander back to peek, and stay.

The issue is pandering to the lowest common denominator. The UX is designed for #doomscrolling entertainment and paid intercept conversion.

#Birdverse monetized it. Cynicism weaponized it. Then ChatGPT came along and camouflaged originality.

Discourse on centralized platforms? Ended in '22. Creators will abandon / be free of the economic feudalism that is commercial social media.

Popped in today. Surprised that trolls were engaging with tweets I sent, well... let's just say not recently. Like, a while ago.

What's up with that? are folks #twitter has re-admitted busy searching hashtags to look for confrontation? Doom scrolling old threads?

Blocking them seems futile.

Today's post: Geometries of Belonging by @rblemberg - this had been on my seasonal/birthday list, but wasn't one I got, so I hit up the bookshop and got it posted out to me. I've read a lot of the big Birdverse material, loved most of it, looking forward to re-read and filling gaps, and nice to have in physical collection compared to random ebook magazines from over the years.

The feed is filled with corporate and agency posts fishing with mainstream clickbait.

@Jelaniya Sadly, as are *any* "minority" voices... It's my hope a #confederation of smaller communities, race, ethnic, what.have.you - at least some with #mastodon instances - gain traction / will organize following the #birdverse meltdown. To be honest, #muskrat has shown clearly that commercially actualized social media isn't designed to amplify voices, it's purpose is to monetize user content. Reason and fairness - justice!! - have no shareholder value. Keep on, keeping on.

I have a video streaming in one Mastodon column, and I'm reading news/politics in another... Meanwhile, notifications arrive in a third, home column is scrolling with posts from those I follow, and i'm posting (this message) in a fifth.

This burns down #birdverse completely.

I'm not a serial thinker, nor do I work that way. Why would I consume content... serially? I'm a muti-tasking person, and so should be my UI...
