I'm #GenX and grew up watching women work professional jobs wearing "heels and hose." It was an office dress code, particularly when any clients were expected to be in the building. Even if the client was only there for an hour, the women were to be in "heels and hose" for 8 hours+.

Hose are now passé, but why do women still endure the torture of "fashionable" or "office appropriate" heels? Why?
