The Intel #iAPX 432 architecture was the #Itanium of the last century. Beautiful in concept but #compilers hadn’t caught up to it yet.
Anyway I had never actually read a whole lot of documentation on it, but #Bitsavers as always has come to the rescue:

this was back when it was still running Unisoft Unix and a 68000 processor
I have the system manual here:

Spent the day doing research to see how much the HP 300 "Amigo" influenced the design of the Apple Lisa. @Cdespinosa probably knows. I do know that Paul Baker once told me he worked on Amigo before coming to Apple. http://bitsavers.org/pdf/hp/300
yay! I now have two running Lisas

Been working on fixing 400K floppies. It turns out 3in1 Lock Dry Lube is amazing at freeing up frozen floppy inject mechanisms.

found this on a thread I was following on here
"But maybe engineering archaeology will always exist. The more I look around, the more the engineering world, once you go back more than a few years, looks like subterranean New York City. A mass of strange engineering feats humming away out of sight, produced by long-forgotten ancient peoples, leaving only fragmentary maps and diagrams."
The original only exists now on IA

Someone emailed me about a language developed at GE called TASMIN that I had never heard of so I'm in the process of pushing out a bunch of historical docs for GE computers and OCRing some that were already there. Unfortunately, the discussion is going on at Facebook, so I have no idea what the context is since they don't allow non-members to peek over their garden wall.

I had a project over the past couple of months to digitize 3.5" floppies with an #Applesauce and would recommend picking up a bottle of cyclomethicone to keep you from carving concentric rings in your media.
