And herein lies the dirty little secret… We all know that the aren’t intended to protect vs infection. The rub: last year’s vax provided addt’l protection vs hosp/critical illness for only ~2 mos, before effectiveness waned. Frustrating, to say the least.

However, recall that the vaccines have been shown to reduce the chances of developing (varies btwn 15-40%.) So, might want to factor this into your decision-mkg.

Good discussion 1/2

[Pre-print] Faraone et al, 2023: Serum from people who received BA.4/5 vaccines, many of whom had recent infections, still showed a 10x drop in neutralization for EG.5.1 (vs. BA.4/5). EG.5.1 is antigenically distant from XBB.

the bizarrest thing just happened. NJ health dept called my spouse with advice on getting the booster even tho they have him in record for getting 2
He’s such a goody-2-shoes he gave them his real☎️📞🤦🏻‍♀️

Firstly, new updated boosters are coming out in 2-3 weeks plus the bivalent is useless AND he clearly prefers Novavax

This is a pandemic which is tbh… f%£ing frightening

The stuff I’m reading in Covid Cautious NYC FB is often 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️& i dare not say anything b/c

“There was a small but significant increase in peak neutralizing antibody responses against and following the first , but no significant increase in peak titers following the second bivalent booster. Omicron-specific titers remained low after both doses of the BA.5 bivalent booster.” mstdn.social/@erictopol/110894

I’m so glad you made that decision💜💜💛Many people won’t do it & can understand their point of view as I had real angst about it last year, but it angered me PH held back until everyone got

The calendar on approval doesn’t lie. Made me super mad, however worked out for me as decided then & there I needed primary doses++

wasn’t going to get for innocuously taking out trash & it has tbh, FAR exceeded my expectations

Can someone who knows about and tell me where I can find more info on how people should go between booster shots? (In the US). Also info about whether with current strains the booster is still the best option or whether might make more sense? Thanks and sorry for all the annoying hashtags, not that many people follow me 🤷

@RedFaster Very nice, Sergei, you must think that you have now adroitly managed to twist my twisting of your words, that tried to twist my original post, to suit your disinformation agenda. I do remember blocking you, Sergei, the first time round, but you've just jumped servers, to take another kick at the can, which I am now calling you out for, publicly. See how that works? Get your shingles shot(s) Sergei! Oh, and your booster.

“This fall, millions of Americans might be lining up for yet another kind of : their first-ever dose that lacks the strain that ignited the pandemic more than three and a half years ago. Unlike the current, vaccine, which guards against two at once, the next one could, like the first version of the shot, have only one main ingredient—the spike protein of the .1 lineage of the , the globe’s current dominant clade.” mastodon.social/@grandmastersh

Dr. Griffin went through the whole thought process of fully vaccinating 6mo-4yo for in this current -only world. (Especially for who are partially vaccinated with a monovalent.) If , at least 3 doses, making sure one of the doses is a bivalent. If , at least 2 doses, making sure one of the doses is a bivalent. 5/

“The authors also compared the of against monovalent vaccines administered 3 to 6 months prior. They found the VE of bivalent vaccine (regardless of subvariant targeted) versus monovalent vaccines post-3 to 6 months was 35% (95% CI, 15% to 51%), while VE comparing bivalent vaccine versus monovalent vaccines post-6 months was 46% (95% CI, 30% to 58%).”
