I proctored my first #bjcp -exam today. Was more nervous than when taking the actual judging exam. All went well. Whew.

There was a tripel (New Belgium) that had been doctored by adding a third of apple juice. A third! It was blazingly obvious in taste (reaallly sweet), but jesus, just by aroma I could've easily passed it as quite an ok tripel. There were all the aspects of a decent tripel in the aroma.

Somehow beer still keeps surprising me. Better keep drinking I guess. :)

@beernouveau @beerminister this sounds awesome, I'd love to travel over for that. My #homebrew club back in South Africa used to organise 4 fests per year, also with a "you made it, you man it" model. Entrance was ticketed but tasters were free, so no illegal sales tactics ;) it's a fab model and normally there'd be both #bjcp judging as well as public votes. I miss those fests dearly
