My wife is a (GP ish) vet as it happens... interestingly, we get regular articles at the #BJGP telling us how wonderful the vet system is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Of course, the real cost of medicine quickly becomes very apparent when paying veterinary costs.

They also have a deep manpower crisis and can't seem to get enough vets to stay in the professional. The independents are getting hoovered up by corporates. Interesting times eh?

Lovely review in BJGP Life this weekend of Women in White Coats by Olivia Campbell. Another one for my reading list. This quote jumped out at me:

"At that point in history, social etiquette and lack of understanding of the female body meant that women and girls were disproportionately affected by ill health and poor medical care."

Sadly, I think the evidence suggests that's very much still the case 150 years later.
