I love showing up for class and seeing the smiles of people coming off the mats after finishing sparring. It’s a slightly euphoric and tired smile that for a few minutes has nothing to worry about

Slowly but steadily improving again with my stamina. Stupid illness prevented me from training for some time and even after I’m back on the mats for the last couple weeks it’s still hard. Today beginners class completely exhausted me. Again. But I’m getting stronger and hopefully I am back to compete in November.

I really really don't want to be a debbie downer, but having a science trained brain, i feel obligated to make my worries known. Or maybe that's my undiagnosed neurodiversity? No idea. I get hyperfixated on this and cannot let it go. I really should be able to resist the urge to post amongst the takers (posting here to help myself, lol). It's their body, they'll figure it out - or have weird shit happen they assign to other things they've done!

Big isn't better than - it's got big pharma greed plus complete lack of regulation! We think natural means better, but plants can kill you too. And a lot of pharmaceuticals come from plants, like aspirin and digoxin - the doses were just studied and products regulated. And there are all these general words like toxin inflammation clean natural that really don't mean anything, just make you feel certain ways about products Big Natural wants you to buy.

Collagen, lysine, Tumeric, arnica, BPC-157 peptides (even consumer labs say no evidence. Only animal studies! No dice.), BCAA.

This all makes me want to scream!

Some powders and pills may be just like peeing money down the toilet, but all that is also filtered through our liver and kidneys. So even if you find it doesn't interfere with diabetes (insulin), heart meds, chemo, etc or contain contaminants like lead, i worry about folks taking all these things just in case.

I'm gonna info dump here bc i think i may be considered a debbie downer for being such a critic of the industry in this group I'm in. I posted a caution on , but i feel going hard on and dropping all these links on them just will not be well received or listened to. I know logically it's too much, but part of my brain wants to be helpful and comprehensive. But i know i am often "too much." I will beat that dead horse.
