Is there any room in #historicalcostuming communities for Black and Brown voices? Every time I try to participate in predominantly white costumer social spaces if the faintest waft of the past’s structural horrors pop up it’s all shushed and brushed aside lest it upset others. How is suffocating open discussions of the past any different than Florida BoE or how people behaved in the Georgian-Victorian ages?
