The black currants are finally ripe in southern Finland.

All the #blackcurrants are picked and, as usual, July is too hot to process them! Into the freezer they go.

@feinschmeckergarten Good ideas, i can see another "dry mulching" area is needed!. I also need to get better at timing planting to achieve density with companion #plants, which is difficult right now for me. Perhaps some lettuces would work with raspberries. Struggling to find listed anywhere suitable companions for #blackcurrants though. Bare soil under them looks so devoid of life!

This is this year’s black currant harvest. I’ll combine it with some raspberries I have in the freezer, sugar and a bottle of vodka to make berry vodka. Nothing better to have a taste of Summer later in the year! 😊
