To be clear, I’m thankful for the way that the #Fediverse, and specifically folks running #Mastodon instances have opened their spaces up to more people. At the same time, my two weeks here have been a rough reminder that there’s still a lot of work to be done in order to make spaces where #BlackFolks can survive, let alone thrive.

Thanks to @zhivi's #TopicOfConversation I've been able to put the pieces together about the extra weird part of the continued recommendation that #BlackFolks just change instances if they land in a hostile one.

We've been there and done that, throughout #history.
