"Monkey Gone to Heaven" is a song by the American #alternativeRock band #Pixies. Recorded in November 1988 during the sessions for the band's 1989 album #Doolittle, it was released as a single in March, and included as the seventh track on the album when it was released a month later in April. The song was written and sung by #frontman #BlackFrancis and was produced by #GilNorton. Referencing environmentalism and biblical numerology.

Frank groeit op in een gezin waar muziek heel belangrijk is, en dan vooral folkrock.
Op zijn 11de begint hij gitaar te spelen op de klassieke gitaar van zijn moeder.
Op zijn 13de leert hij de muziek kennen van katholiek rockmuzikant #LarryNorman en neemt deel aan diens zomerkamp.
Het katholieke aspect zou later veel terugkeren in zijn teksten en ook in albumtitels. Net als #TeenagerOfTheYear

In 1986 voegt ze zich bij de band #thepixies nadat ze reageert op een krantenartikel van #BlackFrancis die nog op zoek is naar een bassist en drummer. Ze neemt ook #DavidLovering mee, en indierock legende The Pixies is geboren.
In 1993 richt ze #TheBreeders op, na spanningen en ruzies met Black Francis, samen met haar tweelingzus #KellyDeal.
In 2004 keert ze terug naar The Pixies, om in 2013 haar bass over te laten aan #kimshattuck.
