One important lesson for #cybersecurity: people will not stop risky behavior. Shaming them for it is not stopping them. This presentation by Kyle Tobener at #blackhat2022 offers an alternative approach by applying the principles of harm reduction.

Auf der #BlackHat2022 bekam Google den "Lamest Vendor Award", weil sie Schwachstellen geschossen haben (sic!). Begründung: Sie hätten damit " Anti-Terror-Aktionen" westlicher(!) Geheimdienste torpediert.

Dabei wäre die Lösung gang einfach: Geheimdienste melden den Herstellern die Schwachstellen, die nicht behoben werden sollen. Oder besser: die Hersteller melden die Schwachstellen den Geheimdiensten und bitten um Erlaubnis, sie schließen zu dürfen.
