I've been working on transitioning into cybersecurity the past few years and there were a lot of great resources to help me on my journey, like #blackhillsinfosec Courses & Webcasts, #SANS Summits & Workshops.
Still, my greatest driver proved to be maintenaning my #tryhackme streak.
For the last two years, there was not a single day when I did not open the site and work on a Task.
Well, except last Tuesday.
But anyway, even on days when I just clicked two Completed buttons — rather than spending an hour massaging a challenge box or reading an reversing tutorial twice — I did something to nudge me forward on this path I chose. Not a single day was wasted: I learned, relearned or just reaffirmed importance of a particular topic.
In the ocean of cyber security knowledge I went on a lot of cruises: discovering new lands, new depths, new waves, new fauna.
So here is a toast to the fancy streak number I lost: it was great while it lasted, I'm sorry I did not make it to a 1000, but now it's time for another challenge that's more manageable.
I think I'll count the days I did not learn something, trying to keep this as low as possible from now on.
I'm currently at 1.
