Today, Ekpyrosis Press remembers the 1948 birthday of Fred Hampton, Deputy Chairman of the Black Panther Party in Chicago. For his truth telling, Hampton was brutally executed by the Chicago PD and FBI in 1969 as he slept in his bed. ekpyrosispress.com

I am slightly triggered by your use of the words "never" and "fundamentally" to justify differences large differences in carbon emissions per capita...

I would say that the basic human needs are not so different from one place to another.

Sure, environmental conditions such as temperature (think about heating in Siberia), water availability or population density (=mobility) affect the required infrastructure, but most impact comes from lifestyle-associated consumption (which is a cultural thing and, in the regions you mention, rooted maybe... in consumerism beginning in the 50s ?) and from infrastructure and system decisions taken mostly by governments in the 20th century (some taken to favour specific corporations, others just plain racism: I recommend following the hashtag by @mekkaokereke ).
Nothing of this is written in stone but sadly, in concrete (couldnt skip his one 😅) and the collective mind.

Look at it like this: the greater the totally innecessary and wellbeing-unrelated emissions are, the easier it is to reduce them without loosing essential things. Remember, in essence, human needs are:
* shelter
* food
* community
* safety (=possibility to plan into the future, this includes also health)
* culture
* having a purpose
* nature
* ...?

We should think whether we really need all the crap late stage capitalism is offering to us...

🤔 . This is a fact going back to slavery.

Touré.
Many Black people struggle with internalized racism. Almost all white people have internalized racism, they're just not struggling with it. They don't even know it's in them.

6/6 So, to wrap up this rant, one of the facets of modern Conservative, , is their fear of (remember Nixon's "the professors are the enemy"?)

What does education do? Lots. Including providing broader perspectives, wider contexts, inching us ever closer towards truth and reality and ever beyond the myths that support narratives.

5/6 America had all the military technology, while the Vietnamese fought with booby traps, pits full of sharpened bamboo...why did America lose the Vietnam War?

The Vietnamese recognized they were going to die either under oppression, or in their fight for freedom, they had nothing to lose, and were fighting for something moral - freedom.

America was there to support its ally's effort to keep on oppressing those people. No moral fortitude. Freedom is the right thing.

4/6 The fomentation for the Vietnam War goes back to 1920, when a young Ho Chi Minh appealed to the Versailles Peace Talks to end French colonialism in which resulted in nothing.

Inaction, placation, dismissal, went on for decades until Vietnamese had had enough and decided to just kick the colonists out.

Ho Chi Minh got funding for his freedom fight against France from China, a communist country with experience in handing America its ass (Korean War).

3/6 ‘A source of inspiration to all freedom-loving peoples’: that’s what called the Cuban leader."

If is a country, then is one of our national heroes. This may come as a surprise to many oblivious of Africa’s history and Castro’s role in it – especially the fate of white regimes and former Portuguese colonies in southern Africa."

These are just a couple of choice quotes from theguardian.com/commentisfree/

2/6 Of course, communism would resonate with African-Americans and their fight to throw off the oppression of Jim Crow.

Ipso facto, — patriotic Americans fear/hate/proactively uproot communism, which, in the American context, is really just a dog whistle about antagonism to any effort to politically organize against colonial white supremacy.

Imagine that. It's almost like everything is about .
