#ArtAdventCalendar - Day 9. Anyone for one of the most awesome things in our universe? Itβs Black Hole Friday and Iβve created a digital artwork of a Black Hole from a digital representation, using Adobe Fresco on iPad Pro, from my Circles Portfolio. #sciart #DigitalArt #astronomy #BlackHoleFriday #science

15/ Finally, I'm far from the only black hole expert on fedi! π€© I've lost track of how many other astronomers have joined recently, but please reply here with your latest and/or coolest black hole-related research!!

13/ By the way, professional astronomers, how many intermediate-mass black hole discoveries/results do you mostly-to-definitely trust? π§
Feel free to elaborate in the replies (though plz don't be shitty to people by name), and please boost this so more astros see it!

9/ We even have a supermassive black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy! It's name is Sgr A* ("Sagittarius A-star") and it's about 4 million solar masses, which makes it medium-sized in supermassive black hole terms.
The Event Horizon Telescope took a picture of it in radio light last year, and it is such a gorgeous lumpy orange donut π€© #OurBlackHole #blackHoles #BlackHoleFriday #astronomy #astrophysics #space

Weighing in at about 4 million times the mass of our Sun and located roughly 26,000 light-years from the best (and worst) #BlackFriday deal going today is our favorite black hole, Sagittarius A* β the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. Happy #BlackHoleFriday!β«

While black holes donβt emit light, their influence can be seen. Swirling gas, energetic jets, and even ripples in space-time give them away. Follow this thread to learn how different observatories help us study black holes! #BlackHoleFriday

I love black holes. My videos often feature new black hole findings. They're one reason I was drawn to astronomy. I even studied black-hole-powered galaxies for my PhD.
So, in honor of #BlackHoleFriday, I'm going to share some of my previous black hole themed videos.
