I've got *two* streams on this Saturday at twitch.tv/airadam13 !

12pm UK (7am Eastern) is a guest spot on the "Morning Dig" raid train, where I'll be playing a one hour set strictly from 7" vinyl! I'll also be keeping the selection radio-friendly, language-wise 🙂

6pm UK (1pm Eastern) is my regular "Hip-Hop & More" show - 90 minutes where we could end up anywhere... Parental advisory for this one!

Today marks fifty years since DJ Kool Herc's first party at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx - widely credited as the kickstart for Hip-Hop. Herc's innovation was not even playing the whole of a record, but isolating the "break", where the rhythm section took centre stage and made the dancers (B-boys, as they would come to be known) get wild!

My husband - who knows that "Redemption Song" is one of my favourite songs (like, play it at my funeral favourite) and that I'm generally skeptical of covers of it - sent this to me. It moved me to tears. My dad, who loved Bob and who loved music and especially the violin, would have enjoyed this very much.
