Damn. This is embarrassing. George Michael is considered more valuable to music than the mighty The Spinners? Or is he more popular? Was he cuter? Sold more records? Is this about art or history or popularity or influence (clearly the Philadelphia group influenced the younger Brit) or filthy lucre? Or is this yet another manifestation of 's ruling ethos: ?

You wouldn't HAVE without artists. Period.

Someone needs to start voting for for the or "Fame" Needs to Turn to "Shame."

It’s crazy, how much great music I’ve been missing out on.
I have one Modern Jazz Quartet album, but it doesn’t touch this.

I was 17, and knew nothing about , but “Cannonball Adderly” sounded like a cool name, so my friend Paul and I went to a concert sponsored by two schools. We were two of about six white people there, and apparently way underdressed for the occasion, but everyone was nice to us, and the music was great.

Larry Graham Jr. is an American bassist and baritone singer, both with the psychedelic soul/funk band Sly and the Family Stone and as the founder and frontman of Graham Central Station. He is credited with the invention of the slapping technique on the electric bass guitar, which radically expanded the tonal palette of the bass, although he himself refers to the technique as "thumpin' and pluckin’”.

I'm late to the edition. Still gonna play in.

Day 1. Song with colour in the title.

My choice:

Purple Haze -

youtu.be/zSsjtiky9xI

Purple is my fave colour. This song got played a lot in my youth & I still love listening to it. Jimi was a brilliant musician.
