Today marks fifty years since DJ Kool Herc's first party at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx - widely credited as the kickstart for Hip-Hop. Herc's innovation was not even playing the whole of a record, but isolating the "break", where the rhythm section took centre stage and made the dancers (B-boys, as they would come to be known) get wild!

Shoreditch City Streets | Vol. 1

On Monday, I decided to take myself off for a wander about this fair city, in order to not only do something I love, but also hone my skills at Street Photography; a discipline I’m not exactly au fait with.

After reviewing what I shot, this turned out to be my favourite of the entire bunch.

This was shot on my X-H2 with my Viltrox 13mm F/1.4 lens. Acros film sim. Edited in Lightroom.

I wasn’t sure whether to post this, because I’m an obsessive perfectionist and it’s an image that isn’t the sharpest or has the prettiest bokeh, but going back and looking at it, it’s definitely one of my favourites.

It captures a dope moment in time and is one from way back in the archives; I shot it last July before I got my first pro gig.

Purple Hearts | Vol. 01

Not quite sure how I managed to capture a picture this majestic, but these things happen. This was taken yesterday outside a studio in North West London, where I was shooting some stills for a Music Video.
