Lately I've been watching the second season of Black Sails, a historical drama about pirates in Nassau during the Golden Age of Piracy. While the first season was much, much weaker, I did really like the way consequences snowballed for the characters. Definitely some GMing inspiration to be had there.

I recently rewatched S1 of Black Sails and even though this is probably my 6th rewatch I still get such a thrill from the mystery surrounding Miranda and her relationship with Flint. I remember how perplexed I was on my first watch, so many questions and mistaken assumptions. They did such a great job weaving this complicated relationship and drawing me into it even when it made no sense. And it’s even richer on rewatch when you know why they’re like that.

I was watching #BlackSails just now and it reminded me once more, why I fell in love with #Writing. For me its about the bonds between people who are so different and yet choose to be loyal to each other. Not sure why Hands waiting for a signal to kill someone was, what made me love that moment. But yea. People choosing loyalty in difficult circumstances, that's what I want to explore.

I would watch an eight-part documentary miniseries on the composition and recording of the #BlackSails #soundtrack by Bear McCreary, and frankly I'm dismayed such a thing does not already exist.

I'm sorry but #BlackSails is an extraordinary tv series. I am in love and so happy I finally have the time to watch it.

Ganz großes Kino! Tolle Dialoge und dramatische Figurenentwicklung, alle auf Position gebracht, am Ende noch eine Figur eingeführt, die ich bislang schmerzlich vermisst hatte, und genau auf dem richtigen Ton aufgehört. So steigt man ganz schnell in die Liste meiner ewigen Lieblinge auf.

No Spoilers: Bei #BlackSails fühlt sich inzwischen jede Folge der letzten Staffel wie ein ganzer Film an. So viele Dinge, die jetzt noch passieren; Dramatik pur - und ich sitze hier, diese Beschreibung der Serie als "Prequel zu #TreasureIsland" im Kopf, mitfiebernd & rätselnd, wie die Figuren alle noch auf ihre Startpositionen für die eigentliche Geschichte kommen. Mindestens einmal bin ich jetzt aber sogar richtig überrascht worden und muss neu überlegen. Uff. Aber jetzt: Viva la revolucion! 🏴‍☠️

Schade: die Reise des #ZeelandAdmiraal23 ist schon wieder vorbei. Schön: jetzt kanns endlich mit #TheWitcher und #BlackSails weitergehen.

Die gestrige #BlackSails Episode "XXXI" spielte direkt mehrfach mit starken religiösen Motiven. Adaptiert wurden mindestens zwei literarische Vorlagen (Odin am Baum hängend; Jesus Einzug in Jerusalem). Wenn ihr mal epische Vorlagen für Märtyrer oder einen selbstbewussten Anspruch auf den Thron braucht, bedient euch hier. Aber Achtung: Diese Folge ist eine von jenen, denen die Staffel die #FSK18-Einstufung zu verdanken hat. Ich hab' euch gewarnt.

War es eben beim Rudertraining noch drückend schwül, wehte jetzt bei der letzten Hunderunde endlich ein frischer Wind durch die Straßen. Zeit, die Segel Richtung Karibik zu setzen: Mit den beiden Episoden "XVII" & "XVIII" steht das Finale der dritten Staffel #BlackSails an.

Mag den Storyarc um die Rettung Nassaus, noch immer sehr. Die Staffel hatte bis jetzt bereits schon einige Überraschungen parat. Bin gespannt, was das Finale noch mit sich bringt. Es fehlt mir noch ein wenig Action auf See.
