2023 Goal: I should dig into more new SFF writing.
Something I just became aware of is the creation of the African Speculative Fiction Society (ASFS)'s Nommo Awards.

New blog post: The Fiyah #BlackSpecFic 2021 report is out https://camestrosfelapton.wordpress.com/2022/12/08/the-fiyah-blackspecfic-2021-report-is-out/
Hit me with the Sci-Fi recommendations, (I have read every PKD and most LeGuins, Brunner and Strugatsky),
I have no bias and will read almost anything once. I do like the zany stuff and partial to a good space opera too. Female, Queer and non-binary authors and marginalized voices are particularly welcome.
Would love to read more work by indigenous authors especially older stuff, but open to anything.
Not crazy about military stuff, but will keep an open mind.

Of 2682 pieces published by 65 venues in 2021, 197 or 7.3% were written by Black authors. With FIYAH excluded, the percentage is 6.7%. The 6.7% represents a change of +4.8% from the 2015 study.

In The Before Times, I'd trek to Madison, Wisconsin, USA, to be delighted by writers, frolicked by fandom, + be eaten alive by mosquitoes.
In 2023, I am looking forward to virtually attending WisCon https://wisconblog-feed.dreamwidth.org/68993.html, and making my first virtual visit to FiyahCon, https://theconvention.fiyahlitmag.com/2022/04/18/announcing-the-2022-ignyte-awards-shortlist/
