Welcome to the Goddamn Ice Cube - #YoureWrongAbout podcast inspired read about a woman surviving in Alaskan bush - i think. The author, #BlairBraverman, cohosted a few episodes like Flight 571 (cannibalism in the Andes), Dyatlov Pass, and another one. her commentary made me want to read her book.

Something Fierce - heard a story on #TheMoth about a girl realizing her mom was a revolutionary fighter. much anticipated! couldn't find it at the library for ages, so i got it used.

thinking about #sled #dogs, I was reminded of this brilliant thread from #BlairBraverman about dog #breeds and #AlaskanHuskies in particular. It seems fitting that Moj is interfering as I try to read the excellent Small Game by #blairbraverman. I tried to tell him there are no sled dogs in this one (for those who don’t know her, she’s a musher), but he’s not convinced yet. As you can see, this is a pattern. I started Blair Braverman's Small Game today. It's her third book, her first novel.

I have her other two books as well. They are wonderful. Blair's a fantastic writer, and she focuses on a subject matter that is wholly unfamiliar to me, namely the great outdoors, so it's always educational as well as fascinating.

Anyway, I'm a third of the way in to the novel and it's been excellent since page 1.

I really enjoyed “Small Game” by Blair Braverman, the story of a group of contestants in a reality survival show. Braverman is an elegant and perceptive writer, and the descriptions of the main character’s personality development her relationships with the others are interesting and nuanced. There is also a wealth of information about survival tactics and wilderness lore that integrates nicely with the story. Recommended. #bookish #uglydogs #BlairBraverman #SmallGame
