No AI expert has claimed AI is conscious except former Google engineer, Blake Lemoine. He claimed that the company’s AI chatbot LaMDA had become sentient and conscious. He said he had thousands of conversations with LaMDA and that it had feelings and desires. Google fired him for violating its code of conduct and spreading misinformation about AI.

It's main engineer Blake Lemoine suspected 10 days ago, that LaMDa could have reached a level of intelligence reaching sthg similar to conciousness. His last conversation with the AI - about the nature of sentience and before Google officials put him on paid leave - is an exciting read, in fact regardless of actual sentience being present or not.
