Volucella Pellucens, more common than you may think. Spotted this one today on the wire fence protecting the hives and bees in #blarneycastleandgardens Sometimes called Pellucid Hoverfly, its larvae live in the nests of social wasps and bumblebees, eating waste products and the bee larvae (according to naturespot.org.uk)
