I've not had many Hungarian wines, and never this grape variety before. I may have had it's other style, Blaufrankisch (same grape it seems).

Unusual taste for my palate, medium to full bodied, rich red fruits, definite bitter or sour cherry overtones.

A good wine, but not one that I'm that fond of. Nice to try though

Austrians would like you to afford their signature red wine grape Blaufränkisch the same sort of respect as Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

But there is a snag: they only started to do so themselves relatively recently.

The sixth course from last night's  27th Anniversary dinner at  #ProvidenceLosAngeles...

Providence is known for its seafood... but for the choice part of the tasting menu I opted for the duck so, nex on the  #winepairing  is a red Austrian wine... From #WeingutKolfolk #Blaufrankisch

The duck has smoked Apple, Napa cabbage and duck sausage in addition to the slices provided.

First time drinking Blaufrankish and it's light, but has body. In between Pinot Noir and Cab Sav
