Von wegen "gute alte Zeit". Die Beschreibung macht selbst meinen Arbeitsplatz zu einem tröstlichen Ort.

Dickens is TOTALLY in my fave 5
He weaves like no other
Jarndyce is such a character
"The whole estate has been absorbed in costs and thus the whole suit laspses and melts away
Jarndyce and Jarndyce is no more"
“Never can there come fog too thick, never can there come mud and mire too deep, to assort with the groping and floundering condition which this High Court of Chancery, most pestilent of hoary sinners, holds this day in the sight of heaven and earth. On such an afternoon, if ever, the Lord High Chancellor ought to be sitting here - as here he is - with a foggy glory round his head…”
One reason I love reading #Dickens, the delightful way he has of cutting down power.

So I don't have solid evidence but I keep thinking aout how #BleakHouse reminds me of Gaddis' #The Recognitions. I think it has something to do with the birds eye view both books tak, paired with deep dives into the minutiae of things.
"Dear, dear, you tiresome little creature, I wish you wouldn't!" but it is all of no use. I hope any one who may read what I write will understand that if these pages contain a great deal about me, I can only suppose it must be because I have really something to do with them and can't be kept out.

@benjamin_oc intrigued to hear some exapmples of books you enjoy. Speaking of darkly humurous I'm really enjoying "Bleak House" I had no idea how strange it was. #victodon #BleakHouse
