Have there been any studies on parallels between #blindsight (no conscious eyesight) and #aphantasia (no conscious mental imagery)?

I‘m currently reading “#Blindsight” by #PeterWatts. B. is a medical condition where “people who are cortically blind to respond to visual stimuli that they do not consciously see” - which perfectly and smartly refers to the plot.

The German word we have for this condition is “Blindsehen” yet the German title of the German translation of the book is titled “#Blindflug” which translates to “#Blindflight” in English, which may sound similar, but is pointless😕

Why do these stupid things happen?

Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Memory, which I enjoyed, ended up being an interesting companion piece to Blindsight.
