I think this episode was a pretty good commentary on inheritted familial obligations and responsibility. What do we owe our parents, our forefathers, even our ancestors, and at what cost to ourselves?
I can think of so many ongoing conflicts and feuds, started by one generation and taken up another only because of perceived obligation or vengeance.
Basic Rule: Do not internalize someone else's fight.

That was a really good honour save by Kang. And yet, having not pulled the metaphorical trigger, Jadzia still feels a damning responsiblility.
