Game slaps hard and totally feels like genuine #castlevania game, even UI is low-key similar to earlier entries

➤Den of Behemoths is just a terrible area. Exploration is slow and annoying.
➤I actually beat Gremory on the first try. Somehow.
➤I've been using Gauge Glasses this whole time. Knowing the boss health is huge.
➤ Dominique is a huge pain. Fast attacks, might teleport right on top of you. Spamming accelerator to run through her has been sort of working.
➤Only made it to the final section a couple times and my health was too low to succeed.

➤Got the power to invert. There weren't many high places to reach though
➤Found special armor to walk through spikes.
➤Another Zangetsu fight. It wasn't too bad.
➤Got multiple bad endings, but I advanced the plot toward the good ending
➤Not sure where to go next
➤Finally crafted a more powerful greatsword.
➤Carpenter bonus boss too hard. Probably not going to bother.

➤Blood vampire boss was annoying. I had to replay it too since my saved data wasn't the most recent when I switched to the new computer. I found some secrets I missed by exploring again though.
➤Jetting around underwater was janky and fun
➤Alfred fight was weird? The circular arena lets you always try and flank him
➤I'm finally using the presets for switching weapons. Clone Mirriam was way easier once I switched to combat gear.

Beneath the unpolished surface that could be rightly construed as betraying its record-breaking fundraiser lies a game that, design-wise, is competent.

At its worst, it's numbingly passable, sometimes it's pretty good and fun, and once in a rare while it's inspired enough to inject a small inkling of life into the run-down, oversaturated genre.

All in all, don't give in to first impressions, but don't expect to be blown away.
